FAQ’s

I want to get married at St. Ignatius.  What is my first step?

Engaged couples should contact a parish priest/deacon to begin the preparation process a minimum of six months prior to the date of the wedding. Please call the parish office at 916 482-9666, ext. 212 to set up an appointment.

Once you have met with a priest, you will choose a date and time and receive the initial paperwork and approval from the parish.

The church should confirm the date and time of the wedding before you make a deposit on a reception venue.  In this way you can insure that you do not lose a non-refundable deposit if the church cannot accommodate your date and time request.

What is involved in the preparation process?

The parish will direct you to the available marriage preparation classes you are required to attend.  In addition, you will participate in an assessment of suitability for marriage.  Through these discussions with a priest/deacon, you will also be directed to any other program(s) deemed necessary.

What is a Wedding Coordinator at St. Ignatius?

Once you have secured your date and the initial paperwork has been completed, you will be contacted by one of our wedding coordinators to help you with the organization for your ceremony.  They work internally with the church (they are NOT involved in any way with your reception, nor do they work with any vendors) organize your wedding procession, and make sure you have the appropriate licenses and fees covered.  They will be with you during your rehearsal and also on the day of your wedding.  Our Wedding Coordinators make sure that the church is set up properly for the ceremony and lock up after you are finished.  They will make sure you are aware of our policies regarding weddings and help you with the final details to ensure a beautiful celebration.
