Overview of Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry is collaboration with all of the other parish
ministries to encourage the youth of our parish to be involved in
the wide variety of activities available St. Ignatius. We encourage
all of our parishioners to become involved in serving our community.
As
outlined in the booklet
Renewing the Vision -
A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry the goals for
ministry with adolescents are:
-
Empowerment Empowering
young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world
today
-
Participation
Drawing young people to responsible participation in the life
mission and work of the Catholic faith community
-
Growth
Fostering the total personal and spiritual growth of each young
person.
These goals are achieved via different activities provided through
all ministries at Saint Ignatius Parish and specifically through the
Youth Ministry program. It is the mission of the Youth Ministry
program to provide a wide variety of opportunities and encouragement
to our teen parishioners for involvement with their peers in all
parish activities.

High School Youth Group
The
High School Youth Group meets the first, second, and third Mondays
of every month in the Campion Center library from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
The 4th week of every month we do not meet on Monday,
instead we take the time to serve the community on Wednesday at
sharing God’s bounty from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Our events vary every
Monday night and include watching age appropriate movies, game
nights (video and board), and activities and discussions that allow
youth to grow in their faith and gain important life skills to get
through high school and the years to come. We also occasionally go
on off campus events which require permission slips to be filled out
in advance (consent to treat (youth) under downloadable forms). Food
is available at every event varying from pizza, pasta, fruit,
cookies, popcorn, and other snack foods. Youth from any high school
are welcome to attend!
Youth in Parish Life
We
encourage our youth to participate in all areas of our community.
For example, if you are in high school and are interested in being a
lector or Eucharistic minister at mass, we can put you in touch with
the right people to get training.
Adult Volunteer Opportunities
We
are always looking for adults to become involved and work with our
youth. If you are called to serve the Youth in our Parish and assist
them in becoming more active members of our parish community, please
contact the Youth Ministry to discuss how we can bring your talents
to the youth of our parish.
All
adults involved with the youth in anyway must fill in a short
application, speak with the Youth Ministry Coordinator about their
interests, and be fingerprinted using the Live Scan service. The
purpose of the fingerprinting is to ensure the safety and security
of our youth.
