Please join us for this important evening of prayer and reflection.
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Ignatius,
I have an important announcement to make today, one that especially impacts our at-home viewers. As you know, we recently moved our Sunday morning masses to 7 and 9 am outside in the plaza next to the church, in conformity with the Sacramento County Health Department Regulations. Starting next Sunday, August 9, we will be live streaming our 9 am mass from the plaza. We will discontinue the livestream at 5:30 pm on Saturday evenings.
We made this decision for a number of reasons. For the next several weeks our Saturdays will be filled with outdoor first communion celebrations, very small baptisms in the church, and some funerals, as we work to catch up on many important events that have been postponed due to the pandemic. Moreover, we felt that broadcasting a Sunday mass with a congregation is a more powerful sign of community that one celebrated in an empty church. We will continue to stream the daily masses from the Church Monday through Saturday mornings at 8 am.
We are trying, within the limits of possible, to return inch by inch to regular church life. All these changes require a lot of extra work from our dedicated staff and many volunteers, and we salute them and thank them for their incredible generosity. And once again, we need to remind those who choose to come to our Sunday celebrations that all need to wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing. Remember too that you need to register on line or by calling the parish office to guarantee a place at mass, since we are limited to 100 attendees total at each mass.
So to summarize:
Beginning on Sunday, August 9, our weekend mass will be streamed at 9 am on Sunday mornings, and there will be no streaming mass at 5:30 pm on Saturdays.
Weekday masses will be streamed from the Church at 8 am Monday through Saturday.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession continues to be available every Saturday from 3 to 5 pm in the Rose Room. Enter under the bell tower.
Please pray for our children who are preparing for their First Communions, for our families that will be baptizing their little ones, and for our beloved dead whose departures we are beginning to celebrate together again.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Tom Lucas S.J.
