Transcript from Open House and Catholic Schools Week Kick-off Mass on January 25, 2026 - Principal Paula Romo on the importance of Catholic Education:

Happy Catholic Schools Week! This week is a great time for us to celebrate who we are as a school and Parish and why Catholic education matters so much. It’s a time to honor our faith, our learning, and most of all, the amazing people who make St. Ignatius such a special place.

At St. Ignatius, we educate the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. Our students don’t just learn-they grow in faith, curiosity, and confidence .We provide excellent instruction in reading, writing, and math, while also offering hands-on learning in science, Spanish, art, PE, and choir. Our students discover their strengths, explore their passions, and develop the skills they need to succeed.

But Catholic education is about so much more than academics. At the heart of our Jesuit identity is being people for others. Our students don’t just learn about faith, they live it. They put their faith into action through class service projects that help others and support our community and Parish. Through service, they grow in empathy, responsibility, and compassion. They learn how to make a real difference, and that’s what it means to be men and women for others.

St. Ignatius thrives because of our incredible community-our families, parishioners, alumni, and friends. Your support allows us to continue providing a strong Catholic education rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service. Today, as part of our celebration, we’ll take a second collection to support our school. Every gift, big or small, makes a lasting impact on our students and our mission.

This week, we celebrate our students, our staff, our families, and the gift of Catholic education. We celebrate a school where faith and learning go hand in hand, where curiosity is encouraged, and where students are prepared not just for the next grade, but for life.

Our students are the heart of St. Ignatius. They are learners. They are leaders. They are people of faith. They are the reason we do what we do. Let’s continue to grow together, support one another, and live out our mission with joy and gratitude.

As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, may we remember that our work is part of God’s plan-nurturing faith, serving others, and following Christ in all we do.
