Michael Tyrrell, S.J. is an Associate Pastor and Accounts Payable Clerk at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Sacramento.  He entered the Society of Jesus in 1965 and was ordained in 1976. He graduated from Gonzaga University with a BA in philosophy and history. He later earned master’s degrees in theology, modern European history, educational administration, and counseling psychology. For more than thirty years he served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator in several Jesuit high schools on the West Coast. In between his assignments to high schools, he was twice the treasurer and executive assistant (socius) to the provincial of the former Oregon Province. In addition to his ministry at St. Ignatius, he will continue to serve as a part-time college counselor at Cristo Rey High School, Sacramento.
